A Family’s Legacy
34” x 28”
Oil/canvas
2011
A commissioned painting
The color palette in this painting is based on a stain glass window at St. Edward’s Church to represent the family’s religion/faith.
The two brown lines in the center of the painting going towards the middle represent the parents coming together.
Centered in the middle of the painting the intertwining represents the union of the parents.
The four lines coming out from the middle represent their four children.
I added blue to the painting to represent the family gatherings they have at their lake home on Lake Cochrane.
The red was added to represent any discord in the family…since all families have some. (Note red doesn’t dominate the painting…I feel this family rallies around each other and supports each other.)
The areas around the family lines is my abstract view of the rolling farm land and planted fields around their rural home.
